Our Mechanical Ventilation Services
Ventilation System Design
A well-designed ventilation system is essential for healthy indoor air, low noise levels and long-term comfort in modern Irish homes. Our ventilation system design service provides:
- Accurate airflow calculations
- Practical duct routing
- Full compliance with Irish building regulations
Ensuring your system can be installed, commissioned and validated with confidence.
Heat Recovery System Installation
We install advanced Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery systems that reclaim up to 90% of heat from extracted air, ensuring energy-efficient and healthy living spaces.
- Quiet, efficient units with smart controls
- Fully insulated ducting for maximum performance
- Airflow balancing and commissioning report
Demand Controlled & Mechanical Extract Ventilation
Our Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV) and Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) systems automatically adjust airflow based on humidity and occupancy. As a result, they are ideal for less airtight or existing homes, apartments, and mixed-use commercial spaces where a full MVHR system may not be the most efficient option. These smart ventilation solutions provide:
- Energy-saving demand ventilation
- Consistent indoor air quality management
- Low maintenance and cost-efficient operation
Ventilation Commissioning & Airflow Balancing
Every system we install or service undergoes detailed commissioning and airflow testing using calibrated TESTO instruments, ensuring correct operation and compliance with Irish standards.
- Room-by-room airflow measurement
- Performance tuning for maximum efficiency
- NSAI-compliant commissioning reports
Ventilation Cleaning & Maintenance
Keep your system performing like new with our full-scope ventilation maintenance and survey services.
We service all types of mechanical ventilation systems, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and comfort.
- Filter replacement & heat-exchanger cleaning
- Airflow re-testing & adjustment
- Maintenance documentation
Vent-Axia and Other Ventilation Systems Repair
Eco Vent provides specialist repair, servicing, and performance restoration for Vent-Axia units and all major ventilation brands, including Zehnder, Nuaire, Domus and others. Whether your MVHR or MEV system is noisy, underperforming, unbalanced, or showing signs of fault, we diagnose the issue quickly and restore the system to full, safe, and efficient operation
We also carry out:
- Airflow testing
- Filter replacement
- Rebalancing and full commissioning reports
If your ventilation system is not working as it should, Eco Vent provides reliable, expert support for homeowners, builders, and retrofit projects across Ireland.
Heat Recovery Ventilation System Benefits
Investing in a heat recovery ventilation system not only improves air quality but also reduces heating demand and humidity issues.

Professional Mechanical Ventilation Installation
We take pride in every mechanical ventilation system we install. From attic-mounted MVHR units to fully hidden ducting, every project is carried out with attention to detail and precision.
Our technicians use only certified materials and NZEB-compliant methods to ensure your ventilation system operates efficiently and silently
Mechanical Ventilation Systems FAQs | MVHR & MEV Questions Answered by Eco Vent
Find honest answers to common questions about MVHR and home ventilation. Our goal isn’t sales — it’s helping you make informed, confident decisions.
What’s the main difference between MVHR and MEV/DCV systems?
MVHR is a balanced system: it extracts stale air and supplies filtered fresh air through dedicated ductwork, and it recovers heat from the extracted air to warm the incoming air (improving comfort and reducing heat loss).
MEV/DCV are extract-only systems: they remove stale/moist air from wet rooms, but they do not recover heat and they do not duct fresh air to rooms. Instead, fresh air typically enters via background/trickle vents (or other planned air inlets).
DCV increases extraction only when sensors (e.g., humidity/CO₂) detect demand.
MEV runs continuously at a low rate (with boost when needed).
What are the running costs of MVHR and MEV systems?
MVHR systems typically cost €35–€70 per year to operate.
MEV systems usually cost €20–€30 per year, depending on the model.
Both types use low-wattage EC motors and operate at low speed for most of the time, keeping running costs minimal.
How does ventilation prevent mould and condensation?
Mechanical ventilation continuously removes moisture-laden air before it can settle on cold surfaces.
By extracting humidity at the source in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, both MEV and MVHR systems prevent damp patches, condensation, and black mould growth throughout the home.
Will mechanical ventilation solve my condensation and mould problem?
Yes.
Mechanical ventilation is the most effective long-term method of controlling indoor humidity and eliminating the cause of condensation and mould. When combined with proper heating and adequate insulation, it provides reliable and permanent protection.
Which mechanical ventilation system is the best?
MVHR is generally considered the best overall solution.
It removes stale air, recovers valuable heat, and supplies filtered fresh air—resulting in excellent indoor air quality, increased comfort, and lower energy bills.
If MVHR is the best solution, what’s the point of installing extract-only systems?
Extract-only systems such as MEV or DCV still provide effective moisture control and excellent indoor air quality.
They are more affordable, simpler to install, and often more suitable for specific building types or retrofit projects where full ducted MVHR may not be practical.
How much does it cost to install a ventilation system in Ireland?
Typical installation costs are:
- MEV: €1,500–€3,000
- MVHR: €4,500–€10,000 (for homes up to 200 m²)
Prices generally include full system design, installation, commissioning, and airflow testing.
