At Eco Vent Ireland, we provide premium air vent covers that allow homeowners, business owners, and builders to instantly improve the interior appearance of their ventilation system. Although standard air valves installed by contractors are functional, they often look outdated and disrupt modern design. To suit every project, we offer three types of air vent covers:

Wall-mounted covers for non-mechanical ventilation systems – simple to replace and installed without causing any damage to surrounding finishes.
For existing mechanical ventilation systems – a straightforward upgrade that keeps the same system diameter and only requires airflow rebalancing after installation.
For new builds – allowing full flexibility, including flush-mounted, frameless and skim-over air valves that blend seamlessly with ceilings.

Homeowners, interior designers and contractors rely on our air vent covers service because we supply premium European models rarely stocked in Ireland. Unlike basic plastic valves, our decorative options are minimal, architectural and available in a range of finishes to suit modern interiors.

Most importantly, when the new cover matches the existing valve diameter, the replacement is simple. Additionally, we complete full airflow balancing after installation to ensure your MVHR, MEV or DCV system continues performing exactly as designed

  • Professional guidance on choosing the correct air vent covers
  • Decorative, minimalist and high-end design options
  • Ceiling and wall vent cover solutions
  • Clean removal of existing air valves
  • NZEB-qualified airflow balancing after installation
  • Compatibility with all residential and commercial mechanical ventilation systems

Types of Air Vent Covers

Choosing the right type of air vent cover depends on your ventilation system, interior design and installation requirements. At Eco Vent Ireland, we offer three main categories to suit both existing homes and new builds.

Wall-mounted air vent covers are designed for passive background ventilation and older non-mechanical systems. They are very easy to replace, require no specialist tools and are completely DIY-friendly for homeowners. Because they do not connect to a ducted plenum box, replacement is clean, quick and free from any risk of damage to surrounding surfaces.

Surface-mounted air vent covers fit directly into the existing plenum box of a mechanical ventilation system. They are simple to upgrade, fully hassle-free and do not require any interference with ductwork, insulation or ceiling finishes. As long as the new valve matches the existing plenum diameter, the installation is straightforward. After fitting, the system only needs a standard airflow rebalance to maintain correct supply and extract rates

Frameless and flush-mounted air valves offer a seamless, high-end architectural finish. Many models sit perfectly flush with the ceiling or wall, and some can even be skimmed over for a completely invisible integration. Ideal for modern new builds where aesthetics are a priority. Installation follows the same principles as standard valves, and the system requires a normal post-installation rebalance to ensure optimal performance.

Aair valves can be replaced without touching ductwork, insulation or ceiling finishes—as long as the diameter matches your current plenum box. Consequently, this is a perfect upgrade for homeowners who want a premium finish without invasive work

Air Valve Replacement Process

Upgrading to modern decorative air vent covers is a quick, non-invasive way to improve your interior. Below is the typical air valve replacement process we follow for MVHR, MEV and DCV systems.

  1. Inspect the Existing Air Valve

We first inspect the existing air valve, its diameter and how it connects to the plenum box. This ensures the new decorative air vent cover fits correctly without any ductwork changes.

  2. Remove the Existing Air Valve

Next, we carefully remove the existing air valve from the ceiling or wall. We avoid damaging the surrounding plasterboard or paint so that the new cover sits cleanly in place.

  3. Clean the Plenum Box and Opening

After removal, we clean the inside of the plenum box and the visible opening. Dust, paint overspray and debris are removed so the new air vent cover seals properly and operates smoothly.

  4. Install the New Decorative Air Vent Cover

We then install the new decorative air vent cover with the correct diameter. The cover is positioned for a neat, flush finish that matches the room’s design.

  5. Secure and Check Airtight Stability

The new cover is secured firmly to prevent air leakage or movement. At this stage, we check airtightness around the plenum box connection and the surrounding surface.

  6. Set the Correct Opening Resistance

We adjust the valve opening to achieve the required free area. This step is essential to keep supply and extract airflows close to the original design values.

  7. Perform Full Airflow Balancing

Finally, we carry out full airflow balancing on the system. We measure supply and extract rates at each terminal and fine-tune the new air valves so the MVHR, MEV or DCV system runs quietly, efficiently and in line with Irish building regulations

Do you offer installation and delivery in Ireland?

Yes. We install across Dublin, Laois, Wicklow and all Leinster region.

Do you supply wall vent covers for non-mechanical ventilation systems, and can they be delivered by post?

Yes. We supply a full range of wall vent covers suitable for non-mechanical ventilation systems, and we can deliver them anywhere in Ireland by post. To order, please contact us by email with the required size and finish, and we will confirm availability, pricing and delivery options.

Is airflow balancing always required after installing new air vent covers?

Yes. When you replace air vent covers on a mechanical ventilation system (MVHR, MEV or DCV), airflow balancing is always necessary. Even a small change in the terminal cover affects system resistance, which can alter supply and extract rates. Balancing ensures the system continues to operate quietly, efficiently and exactly according to its design performance.
